Hon Commissioner Dr Fatima Atiku Abubakar has today 19th of June flagged off the distribution of routine immunization data tools to PHC facilities. The ceremony took place at yelwa clinic of Yola North local governments area.
In his welcome address at the occasion the Exacutive Chairman Adamawa state Primary Health Care Development Agency Dr Abdullahi Dauda Belel said data has been an issue in the state for long time ago but with support from the present leadership of the health sector, all process towards getting accurate and up-to-date data are in place.
“Today we are very happy with the support of the Hon Commissioner for bringing health sector under one family, the saving one Million lives program is mainly to strengthen our gaps on maternal and child health care services, we are ready to provide all necessary support at the PHC end to ensure the success of the program” Dr Belel said
In her speech to flag-off the distribution exercise, the Honourable Commissioner call on all PHC facilities to ensure adequate utilization of the data tools, “ no more complaint for data tools again, we are expecting immediate drop down of immunisation defaulters to less than 5% if not zero” Dr Fatima said
Tools distributed include: child health card, defaulters summary booklet and ticker back . Child Health card is used to record doses of antigen taken and to be taken by a child from 0 to 11 months, defaulter summary booklet is used to track and record children that default their immunization days.
Among the dignitaries that attended the occasion are Dr Garba Ahmed (Permanent Secretary ), Mrs. Rhoda Zira Yohanna ( Deputy Permanent ), pharmacist Iyobosa Igbinovia ( State coordinator W.H.O ), Directors from ministry and state primary health care development agency and partners.
