Communication for Development (C4D) Review Meeting With Media Executives & Journalist Against Polio (JAP)

Communication for Development is one of the critical components for behavioural change that help bridge gap in awareness creation and sensitization of target audience. It is believe “effective and efficient communication strategy influences health seeking behavior”, the review meeting is aimed towards enhancing the engagement of media out fit and journalist to create more awareness and review more local tool that would help improve the quality of Maternal Newborn Child and Health neonatal service and Polio in Adamawa State.

The review meeting organized by Adamawa State primary Healthcare Development Agency in collaboration with UNICEF witnessed the attendance of all media executive, journalist from Home bases media station and correspondence chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalist and RATTAWU. In An Opening remark, the Executive Chairman Adamawa State primary Health care development Agency represented by the Dir. Planning Research and Statistics (DPRS) Dr. Paul S. Margwa said the aim of the review meeting is to intimate the media and journalist expertise in the dissemination of appropriate technology, information and massages for better health service that will reduce infant mortality in the state. He added that the significance of Media and Journalist in promoting sensitizing the community is paramount.

The Dr. Amos Ujulu, Dir. Disease control from State Primary Healthcare Development Agency presented a paper on paradigm Shift in media Engagement –role of media followed by Dr. John Sabo RI LQAs result and lunch of Optimizing integrated Routine Immunization Strategy (OIRIS).
Dr. Saadatu Ringim Eu/Unicef Lead consultant in her presentation gave an overview of the EU/Unicef country programme to support and improve the quality of healthcare in Adamawa state and the country at large. The UNICEF Polio Comm. consultant  Pharm. Innocent in view of the role played by the media and Journalist made a presentation addressing Polio Vaccine Hesitancy and non Compliance role of Journalis Against Polio (JAP).

In conclusion an interactive session was held to inaugurate member of JAP for the state, to help achieve effective and efficient awareness creation.
