Adamawa State Ministry Of Health Held Save One Million Lives (SOML) Steering Committee And Award Presentation To Best Performing Local Government Area (LGA).

The meeting was held at America University of Nigeria Hotel. the occasion was aimed at engaging critical stakeholder to help in strengthening the quality of healthcare service delivery through Save One Million Life (SOML) in Adamawa State.

The executive chairman State Primary Health Care Development Agency Dr. Abdullahi Dauda Belel in his well come address, applauded the commitment by executive Secretary of the Primary Health Care Development Authority for effective implementation of the SOML Programme in their respective LGAs. He further stressed that it is sole responsibility of the Primary Healthcare authorities to implement developmental project and programmes of the PHC in the state, as such SOML is an integral part of the agency’s activities. Dr. Belel  added that Primary Healthcare is the closest Health institution that has direct impact on the wellbeing of the rural poor. He calls on critical stakeholder to support policies that will help strengthen the institution.

The Hon. Commissioner of health Dr. Fatima Atiku Abubakar in her remark commended the performance of SOML programme Manager and programmes officers for the outstanding achievement in implementation of SOML programme in the state. She indicated the impact and achievement of the programme have indeed improved the quality of Care at the health care facilities.

In view of these developments Dr. Fatima Atiku Abubakar found it necessary to reward and award the best Performing LGAs. This is an effort by the ministry through the SOML programme to motivate other LGAs to perform better for better and quality healthcare service delivery in the state.

Consequently, the LGAs who deed well were presented with an award. The LGAs that emerged victorious are
1. Toungo ( Immunization)
2. Madagali (Family Planing)
3. Yola North (Malaria)
4. Gombi (Nutrition)
5. Mubi North (Skilled birth Delivery)
6. Yola South ( PMTCT).
The award system was introduced by the program to stimulate performance and encourage competition. The recipient thanked the ministry for the encouragement and promised to live to expectation at all time. The 2018 steering Committee came in a unique way, in view of the fact that it witnessed the presence of High delegation on study tour to the state from Bauchi State Ministry of health and Bauchi state Primary Health Care Development Agency. The occasion was enriched with series of interaction that will improve the quality of healthcare service delivery and to strengthen relationship between the sister state.
