Introduction to CHIPS
One of the most pragmatic initiative and approach adopted by policy makers and critical stakeholder of Primary Health care sub-sector in Nigeria if implemented effectively and efficiently is the “Community Health Influencers, Promoters and Services (CHIPS) programme.
The CHIPS programme been a voluntary service by patriotic citizens structured to stimulate and support households in communities to seek and obtain PHC services through various health service delivery platforms, namely the facility, outreaches and home services by volunteered CHIPS personnel. This will no doubt go a long way in actualizing equitable increased access to basic Primary Health Care (PHC) services in Nigeria, especially at the community Level.
