World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) 1st – 7th of August

My Dear management and staff of the Agency, PHCAs as well as PHC workers across Adamawa state. Annually, the entire world marks ‘World Breastfeeding Week (WBW); 1st to 7th of August’. The week is dedicated to raise awareness on importance of breastfeeding to the child, mother, family and community/nation.
The theme for this year’s WBW is “Breastfeeding: a shared responsibility”. Thus, it underscores the need for all in the society to play their complimentary roles towards encouraging breastfeeding for us to have its maximum benefit to the society. The Agency has been doing this and hereby pledge to do more.
Consequently, I urge you all, as frontline workers, to use every opportunity of contact with individual clients, their spouses, mothers/care givers to counsel and provide needed technical support to encourage breastfeeding. We are optimistic that with other plethora of services that we render, Adamawa state shall have a healthy population.
