CO-ORDINATION AND PARTNERSHIP
The project which was funded under UNICEF/EU support programme aimed at improving health seeking behavior and quality access of health services among the pregnant women and Children U5 with a view to reducing maternal, neo-natal and Child mortality using iCCM initiative. The project rides over unicef intervention in the areas of MNCH interventions and SPIICDA integrated health system development.
GENDER & ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS:
Out of the 120 trained CORPS, 45 were women this representation helped in creating sense of belonging among Women CORPS so that, they are motivated to do more in attending to Women during client consultation.
The need to address the gap being experienced by low attendance to clinic and immunization by some sections of women especially Women in Purdah was discussed and the CORPS mapped plans of action to integrate such issues during community dialogue sessions.
CHALLENGES, RISKS & MITIGATION STRATEGIES:
Security challenges remain a serious concern in Adamawa state, with the hope that the current effort at curbing the situation will open up chances for more community meetings and gathering a mean of mobilization and sensitization as encapsulated in the training objectives.
Putting a formidable team that come from line ministry and agencies as technical implementation team in the state has brought about synergy and resource leveraging especiaIIy the coming of Media on board had cut the cost of media sponsorship of messages so that many more people in the grassroots would be reached through the media.
Media Messages, TfD and religious sermons are identified as viable tools for behavior change communications and as such they are to be part of the community interventions.
